What does SOC 2 readiness involve?
SOC 2 is an attestation report, not a certification — an independent CPA firm examines your controls against the AICPA's Trust Services Criteria and issues an opinion. Type I assesses design at a point in time; Type II assesses operating effectiveness over a period, typically 3 to 12 months.
Most SaaS and B2B companies pursue SOC 2 because enterprise customers require it during vendor security review — we scope the criteria that actually matter for your product (usually Security plus one or two others) rather than over-scoping unnecessarily.
